Cooking is like love, it should be entered into with abandon or not at all.

— Harriet van Horne

Life’s charm is in the lemonade, not the lemons. But everyone gets served something sour from time to time. Life is Lemonade is here to help you with that — whether you’ve come for a recipe, a book recommendation or just a laugh, I hope you’ll stay and sip awhile.

Who is that woman behind that pitcher of lemonade? It’s me! Meridith. If you live in the Atlanta area, you may recognize my name as the former dining critic and food writer of the AJC. I have been honored and privileged to work as a food journalist and writer for 15 years. But before that, I did other things.

I auditioned for Broadway shows. Lived in a 280-year-old house in Massachusetts. Had a baby girl who now wears the same size shoe I do. Got married. Twice (the second time is the charm). Co-hosted a radio show. Taught culinary school. Worked as a pastry chef. Tap danced. Survived an eating disorder. Collected 14 pounds of honey from my beehive last year. Cried some. Laughed a lot.

I’m a woman, wife, mom, sister, daughter and lover of … just about anything that doesn’t bite me back (well, I guess I can love the things that bite back, too). Over the years (and there have been a lot of them) I’ve come to realize that everyone gets served those proverbial lemons from time to time. Life’s charm is in the lemonade you make of them. Life is Lemonade is here to help you with that – whether you’ve come for a recipe, a book recommendation or just a laugh, I hope you’ll stay and sip awhile.

Do you know someone who makes life into lemonade? You know - that special person who turns negatives into positives or just plain knows how to spread the sugar around and stir? I'd love to share their story! Email me!
